Communities across San Diego went dark on Thursday afternoon as a power outage plagued parts of the county.

Power went out in Little Italy, Downtown, La Jolla, Pacific Beach and other areas.

SDG&E tweeted "We understand power is out, we are working on the cause and solution. We do not have a restoration time yet."

San Diego County spokesman Mike Workman said that his department was unaware of what was going on and he is "sending a representative to SDG&E right now."

SAN DIEGO - Power is slowly being restored to thousands of homes left in the dark Monday evening.A power outage affected about 16,000 customers in the communities of Paradise Hills and Bay Terraces.

SDG&E blamed a problem with the overhead electrical system but couldn't provide further details
