The older computer that runs Raidbot froze up tonight and now will not boot up. So Raidbot is offline till I figure out what part needs replaced and get it ordered and installed. - possibly one or two weeks - depending on $$ of replacement part.

Kethor rezzed up longbot - so longbot is the temp relacement for raidbot until I can get a replacement computer for the one that died (be about 2 weeks) and get everything back up and running. I was planning a new computer for next year (for my personal usage), I'm looking at adjusting the timetable to this year - so I've been looking at new computers for me and turning the current one into the raidbot & backup computer. Just means I add more water to the soup for more cheap meals the rest of the year.

HEADS UP - raidbot may be going offline again as I fight out a issue with the new PC - I'm down to calling for an RMA # this morning before it goes out of the 30 day "free return policy".
Right now I'm at a 95% sure I'll be returning the new computer.
The issue is this... When playing EQ - the monitor just "goes to sleep", I'm still in game - I'm not LD, the monitor just "goes to sleep". I've switched out monitors, I've switched out connection type's, HDMI & serial cable - same thing. Nothing I do wakes the computer when it does this - no mouse buttons, no keyboard hits - the only thing I can do is power off/on. The new computer is going on it's 3rd week now and it happened again last night. (4th time happening) since I got it. And once it starts sleeping, it continues to happen for a while that night, then it stops again, just as randomly as it starts.
I've turned off all the power saving settings for sleep mode - even the hard drive, the wireless & ethernet connections. Basically this conputer should never sleep but it does - and right in the middle of EQ!
So please get use to checking your dkp on the website going forward, I might wait now for the Christmas specials before getting another one to dedicate to raidbot, unless my brother has enough parts to piece one together. When I sink $$ into a new machine and it won't work, it makes me mad.

it's a static build up, if you unplug it, press the power button for 15 secs then turn it back on it will work for a little while again, I had that happen to a HP desktop and they replaced the MB due to a bad capacitor. Good luck with it.

Just a note. When I worked in over teh phoen tech support and people asked "what caused That" to somethign we did not have a clue. My standard reply was "Well occasioanly you wil get an electrostatic build up within the system, especially if it is not running through a UPS to keep the electrical signal clean."
Reason for this resposne was A) we have not clue, and B) we are trying to keep a "handle time" so want to get you off the phone and C) we can't admit that it was a piece of junk that is just malfunctioing.
When in doubt especally if you already have hte problem fixed, resort to technobablle.

Anyone got a recent laptop computer that will run EQ or WoW without lag issues? I'm now leaning towards getting a laptop that I can take on trips that will play eq or other games with.
I'm sill exploring options - I'm about to drag my brother down to Frys and say what can you piece together basically that will run eq and serve as a back up computer (not main computer) since it has to be dedicated to raidbot.

Fable bought an Asus laptop a couple months ago that he can play EQ on. Only time that it lags is if he has (I think) 2-3 toons logged in at once while watching something online. lol. I put the link below.
Right here. Lol.
