Who has the best dice? Who is the unluckiest roller? I have the results =)
I have extracted '32k' randoms from my logs going back 2 years, and found out who has the best and the worst luck. Yllaena has the best rolls by far, with three VERY distant runner ups, Sarrenna, Moorl, and Gringo. When it comes to the worst rolls, the 'competition' is closer. Sollas has the worst dice, but has to work hard at crappy rolls to keep the lead on Anas, Tjay and Gindaas. I would rank Gindaas as the second worst roller.
These rankings take all of the information from the logs into account (the number of randoms counted relative to the average roll ranking), and are somewhat subjective. The plain results require a grain of salt. I'll post the top and bottom 10, but be careful when reading it. You have to consider how many randoms are being counted in addition to the average random.

Average probably will not give a good number, after all if you rolled 19k every time you would never win when a lot of peopel were randoming.

Eagles, that might be entertaining. I'll post some 30k and 25k percentages later. However, the percentage of wins isn't possible, because matching the concept of a win to a random is too complicated. I could hack out some formulas that consider this highest rolls in a 30 second period, or in a period of time that does not vary by more than 10 seconds, but that isn't necessarily a win.
My method for ranking people involved weighting a persons rank to their counted randoms. I had 342 randoms from yllaena, the second largest count of randoms, and in all of those yllaena still maintained a high average roll. Gringo and Sarrenna only had 97, and 100 rolls to count. Consider that if your average roll for 20 rolls is 18000, and your later average roll for 200 rolls is 16500, the 18000 average at 20 has very little significance. In that way, yllaena's luck is more impressive than the 6 people who ranked higher because I had more randoms to count.
If I were to graph someones average roll against roll counts, it would look like a depreciating sine wave with a high amplitude at its origin, and a decreasing amplitude that approaches 16000 at its end. That is in effect what I have been relatively describing.

Disagree with the weighting and I woudl consider 100 to be a relatively signifigant sample. More is of course better but it will jsut effect the error of margin on the randoms. I think our methodology overweighted the frequency.
The reason I suggested the 30k and 25K is those are MORE likley to win then someone who randomed 18000 or evne 20000 consistently.
For our purposes 16k with a LARGE standard dev woudl be better hten 18k with a small standard Dev.

I went ahead and extracted wining rolls from my logs. wins do not mean an item was won, rather the roll was higher than other rolls that were no longer than 30 seconds apart from the previous roll. It's a pretty good measure of wining rolls.

It say syou won 25 times or 19.69% of the time. This ranked you 12th as a winning percentage.
In a previous post it said you rolled 127 times. So you won 25 out of 127 times.
Oh and even winning percent is not a good way (I don't know of a good way to test this).
It is harder to win a random for a spell at 1 dkp, then for a BP at 400 DKP because less people are rolling on the BP. This current methodology does not include that in winning percentage. Thus we would see people who consider themselves unlucky and thus bid up items to limit the competition appear to be luckier since there was less competition.
My personal guess is the percentage of rolls over 30k is probably the best way of calling someone lukcy, thuogh it is POSSIBLE to loose with a 30k+ roll. My best roll ever was a 31900 or so... For an alt... right after I won (Korafax BP) a main logged on and it was given to the main. My dice were traumatized and have been horrid ever since.

I did not repeat the information in the second list (it gets messy). The first list has the total counted rolls, the second list has the counted wins.
Aanomine - counted rolls = 127
Aanomine win count 25 win/total rolls 19.69%
25/127 = 19.69%
Like eagles said, it does not consider the probability of a win. I do have the probability for each roll, but I do not know how to compile all the information.
If you win a roll with 1 in 14 odds, and lose a roll with 1 in 3 odds, how do you figure win / lose percentage weighted by odds? /boggle.

I'd actually need to know how to collate multiple wins / loses. Like a win with 1/4 odds, a win with 1/14 odds, a loss with 1/2 odds and a loss with 1/31 odds

This is just an idea, not sure if it would work, but once you get the odds, you could just keep track of who makes the most "luck points" similar to betting on horse races. If you were a 3 to 1 favorite, that means you win 75% of the time, so The theoretical expected value would be 3/4*(number of rolls as a 3 to 1 favorite). I think the odd payouts are set so you are paid a value so you break even in the long run, so you would get paid 1 1/3 for every 1 point you bet. Comparing theoretical to actual should work, whoever has the highest amount of points would be luckiest. an actual value of 1 would be average, less than 1 would be unlucky, and >1 lucky. If you manage to win with an 8k roll against 10 people, you will get a lot of points, representing a lucky win. If you lose 31999 to 32000 against 1 person, you would still lose the same amount, -1, but the other person would gain a ton. I think this should work, but like stated before, sample size is awfully small to start with, and everybody has a different amount of rolls.
