Re: New PC, or Laptop
I finally caved last October and handed my brother the cash to build me a desktop - and it's been great so far. Had I bought the equal Dell or HP it would have been almost doubled in price.
I've used both Dell and HP over the years - the upper end ones - i went away from Dell to HP when the "mean machine" I got from Dell kept crashing - and each year for 2 years I had to install a new motherboard (from dell). I switched to hp.
At home for gaming - i prefer desktops. If and when I have to travel again - I will be in the market for a gaming laptop to take on trips - the one i used this past summer was an HP laptop I bought for my nephew 3 years ago - it had no issues with EQ - but had major issues with Star Wars (lag) - a more recent game and graphics engine then EQ. but I assume it was due to age of laptop and hardware in it.
All I can tell you ... if you have a choice - windows 7.. stay away from win 8 - I installed it - hated it - backed it out and went back to 7.

Re: New PC, or Laptop
I know Jeldar just built a monster PC so I would talk to him.
As far as pre-built systems you could always go with the Dell XPS or the Alienware or the Gateway FX but I find building your PC from scratch is usually better and less expensive. Even though cost is not a factor it still doesn't hurt to get the most bang for your buck.
