Loot and bidding - best fit for class then situational bids

Post by Xslia »

I'm going to post this here in the open forums - we have posted in the bid rules section earlier this year.

As you know things are evaluated all the time - based on events, flags, etc. We have evolved our rules over the years - we added in things like unbuffed HP, minimum AA's etc. The same applies to bidding (changed % of attend to bid) and then rules on specific items.

Due to the ALL/ALL label on gear - at one time we have evaluated making rules around the +Heroics and HA/SD amounts on gear. We decided to wait and watch.

Yes we know that something is new and shiny coming from group to raid content and is an upgrade - but it does not mean it is a good item for your class. If something has a high SD - it's a caster item (MAG,ENC,WIZ) if something has high HA- is a priest item. (Each tier has a max SD/HA amount). Yes there are some items that may not always be easy to determine. And if you have a weapon already of this tier - we will ask if you bidding on more than you can equip at one time - we do not allow weapon collecting (1hb, 1hp, 1hs etc).

Our goal in asking that you look at the stat's - ALL of them and not just say - ok that's an 20 ac upgrade I'm bidding - but the item is caster centric. SOE has not done us any favors with ALL/ALL and with the lack of raids in Tier2 of current Cotf - there is NOT that much loot.

We want to make sure that item you get is solid for your class - not something that will tide you over till you get better. Because - that item may have lasted another Tier on the correct class vs you waiting till you got access to a better item and then banking or tributing the old one. ESPECIALLY when i see the correct classes bidding against those that would not benefit as much from that item (Priests bidding on SD items, Tanks bidding on melee dps items, etc). That item you know will be replaced as soon as you can to a more suitable item got got taken from the hands of people that would have used it for a longer time.

We have structured our bidding as follows:
when an item is offered during raids to raiders - those classes that are best fitted for the stat should be bidding. If it's a tanking item - tanks, if it's an dps item - then dps, etc. We do not want to see people bidding 1 at the 10 second mark because they think it is rotting. There are OTHERS that are waiting for the open REBID of the item.

If no one bids. THEN we rebid the item as a upgrade even if not best for class. In the case of weapons - you may see 'situational" use. Where a 2hdr is offered.

After that if no one wants - we will either offer up for house/tribute or as an alt item.
